ECG & Pharmacology 

The American Heart Association ECG & Pharmacology course is designed to improve ECG recognition skills and pharmacology knowledge for treating cardiovascular emergencies. While most providers believe their skills in cardiac rhythm interpretation to be adequate; we aim to improve these skills to allow for early notification and prevention. Increasing knowledge of cardiac rhythm interpretation and a knowledge of ACLS drugs can prevent cardiac arrest.

This course is for healthcare professionals who AHA ECG cardiac stripparticipate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies.

This course is intended for:

  • EMTs/Paramedics
  • Nurses
  • Respiratory Therapists
  • ECG Techs
  • Pharmacists
  • Physicians


After completion students will have a better understanding of

  • Cardiac anatomy and basic electrophysiology
  • Normal ECG Measurements
  • Basic Arrhythmias
  • Basic ACLS drugs
  • Drugs, doses, and routes of administration during cardiovascular emergencies

ECG takes approximately 3.5 hours to complete; Pharmacology takes about 2.75 hours to complete. When combined, the estimated course length is 6.25 hours.Upon completion of the course, the student will receive a course certificate.
